Shelf Guide

Shelf Guide magic points to correct shelf sections in Clean The Library. Navigation help for ambiguous books and new players.

What Shelf Guide Does

Shelf Guide provides directional navigation toward the correct shelf section for your currently held or targeted book. When spine colors blur together or title text is unreadable on mobile, Shelf Guide arrow or pathing reduces wrong-wing sprinting across the massive library map.

Unlike H hints which consume hint resources, Shelf Guide uses magic cooldown—tradeoff depends on your current hint pool and Unlimited Magic ownership. New players learning 1A–1N and 2A–2Q codes benefit most until color memory solidifies.

Shelf Guide does not place books—only navigates. You still manually drop with Q, B/Circle, or mobile drop button at the row.

Efficient Usage

Reserve Shelf Guide for ambiguous middle cases—not every pickup. Obvious 1D Science blue books need no guide; borderline 2C Curses versus 2K Summoning purples do.

Combine with shelf lookup wiki tool out-of-game to build memory faster and reduce in-game magic dependency.

In co-op, call destination codes aloud even when using Shelf Guide—teaches teammates section map simultaneously.

Limits and Build Fit

Speed runners drop Shelf Guide once memorizing section themes. No-magic builds use H hints instead exclusively.

Unlock typically after Assemble, Sort, and Insight in balanced builds—navigation matters more mid-game when second floor opens.

Return to abilities overview for full magic comparison chart mentally: gather, sort, audit, navigate, automate.
